Choose Your Design Platform
To ensure a more efficient interaction with The Carveman, it is helpful to create your design using an appropriate design platform. Ideally, the chosen design platform can save or export as .svg format (scalable vector graphics). Other formats such as .dxf or .dwg are also compatible. There are multiple platforms to choose from. You may also have an existing one installed or available to you. Platforms that can be used include – Inkscape (free), Gimp (free), Adobe Illustrator (subscription), Corel Draw (purchase)
Choose Your Font
There is a plethora of beautiful fonts available for download. Some are free, some are not. Consider the effectiveness of the font as a carving. Some fonts have perhaps too much fine or erratic detail, some look better carved outside, some look better carved inside. Start by searching font libraries online such as fontlibrary.org, creativemarket.com, dafont.com. You will find that most libraries generally share the same fonts so don’t feel too overwhelmed by it. Some, I find, have better catalogue systems for finding something suitable.
Consider The Carve

Outside Carving
Aside from the overall design, it is worth considering how the carving works as an effect. Some objects will be more visually and aesthetically striking when certain methods are applied.
